Creating the Alexian Brothers Network and its Centers of Excellence
is a daring undertaking that will transform our community. Included among the costs for
this expansion were the completion of our two specialized hospitals; the new 50-bed Alexian Rehabilitation
Hospital and Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, which is now considered the Midwest's
largest freestanding psychiatric hospital. Extensive renovation and new construction are ongoing at Alexian
Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village and at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. In addition,
improvements are developing each day with numerous, leading-edge medical techonolgies, such as the Gamma Knife, the Bi-Plane,
Varian Eclipse Treatment Planning System located at The Cancer Institute, and new satellite facilites and 24-hour Care Centers.
The scope of the project encompasses each of our four hospitals
and our Centers of Excellence.
The total cost is over $400 million. Sound fiscal management enables
Alexian Brothers Health System to fund 70% of the total cost of
this project from operations. An additional 20% will be generated
from various joint ventures and alternative financing arrangements.
The goal of the Foundation is to raise the remaining 10%, approximately
$40 million.
